Project Interior Designer

As the Project Interior Designer, you will…

  • Be responsible for overseeing the development of BIM/CAD design and documentation of drawings.
  • Manage the team with an understanding and support for the value of design. 
  • Oversee team's production and coordination of construction documents, including consultant coordination and management of client's goals, budget and schedule.
  • Develop designs with an understanding of the impact of building codes, agency and jurisdictional requirements and train less experienced staff.
  • Maintain the budget and schedule throughout construction administration.
  • Be responsible for oversight and coordination of project activities with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.
  • Oversee furniture selection and specifications in compliance with client standards and code requirements as well as train others.
  • Participate in all phases of the design and project documentation process and be able to own/manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate consistent time management skills and completes tasks accurately and on schedule. Mentor/coach and oversee less experienced staff with strong time management skills to complete tasks on schedule. Assist project leaders in preparation of project management plans and adhere to these plans.
  • Bring in work through the development of client trust, relationships and reputation of consistent project management.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented and collaborative.  Coach organization skills to less experienced staff.
  • Ensure that The Lionakis Way standards for design, quality control, and production are followed related to project management as well as contribute to further development of standards.
  • Advise project leaders of client and consultant requested changes to scope of work; determine cause and effect to project budget and schedule. Excellent scope management from proposal through closeout.
  • Review and evaluate documents for accuracy with internal teams and external consultants in preparation for formal Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).  
  • Be responsible for delegating tasks to at least three Interior Designers as well as coaching.
  • Coordinate with project leaders to develop action plans related to project issues.
  • Be involved in the development and adherence to work plans, assisting the PIC with fee development, monitoring project financial status related to the scope.
  • Be actively involved in proposal content development.
  • Contribute/participate in weekly studio staffing meetings in order to effectively meet staffing needs and deadlines.


Project Interior Designer Qualifications – The Must-Haves (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a minimum of 6 years interior design experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with BIM/Revit
  • Prior experience with Civic and/or Commercial projects
  • Prior experience with Healthcare projects (Kaiser preferred)
  • Prior experience working with Rhino3D 

Project Interior Designer Qualifications – The Like-to-Haves (Not Required)

  • Basic skills in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Google SketchUp
  • LEED accreditation
